English as a Foreign Language (EFL)
IELTS
Students whose level of English is 5.0 (CEFR) or below will study EFL as alternative to one main academic subject, which means they will only do two A Levels subjects.
This course is designed to enable students to gain the language knowledge, ability and confidence essential for progression to further academic study. Through exploring a range of topics, students develop a greater command of written and spoken English, as well as academic study skills. The aim is that all students will achieve a level 6.0 in the IELTS (with a minimum of 5.5 in each skill) to allow them to enter into an undergraduate arts course at university. Lessons are based around the four individual skills sets of reading, writing, listening and speaking.
