The Great Outdoors
ISCA's year one students have recently returned from an exciting and inspiring trip to the English coastline. The three-day residential to the coastal town of Swanage in the beautiful county of Dorset provided the inspiration needed to begin the new project, entitled 'Time is Change'. The work that students produced and the research gathered will help to evoke ideas for creative endeavours back in the studios at ISCA. The trip also gave everyone an opportunity to experience the rural and rugged beauty of the famous Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site. The group stopped off at incredible landmarks rich in history including Corfe Castle and Durlston Castle. They conducted a diverse range of drawing exercises, even while enduring the breathtaking (but sometimes challenging) English weather.
Other tasks included observational sketches and photography, gathering research and collecting materials, collaborative work and reflective writing. The ISCA tutors were very impressed with the level of engagement and creativity from the group. Students were responsible and energised throughout the three-day trip, even taking the time to draw during the coach journeys. Overall, they have collectively made a very encouraging and productive start to the academic year.
